After Ola, Kunal Kamra Targets Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, Demands Transparency on Delivery Partners’ Wages

Comedian Kunal Kamra has turned his attention to Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa, raising concerns about the treatment of gig workers in India’s quick commerce sector. In a social media post on platform X, Kamra urged Dhindsa to disclose data on the average wages paid to delivery partners in 2024.

“Can you also enlighten us with data on the average wages you paid your ‘Delivery Partners’ in 2024?” Kamra asked in his post on December 31, 2024.

Kamra’s remarks followed Dhindsa’s own post highlighting New Year’s Eve sales data, which included figures such as “45,531 bottles of mineral water, 22,322 Partysmart, and 2,434 packets of Eno currently en route.”

Marking the start of 2025, Kamra said his first post of the year was intended to draw attention to the alleged exploitation of gig workers in the quick commerce industry.

“While we enjoy the convenience of quick commerce, I’d like my first tweet of 2025 to be about the dark side,” Kamra wrote.

The comedian accused platform owners of exploiting workers and failing to create meaningful jobs, comparing them to landlords who profit without owning land.

“They lack creativity or innovation, exploiting workers by offering them a freedom they can’t afford while paying wages that don’t meet their aspirations,” Kamra claimed.

He went on to describe these companies as “thugs” who use data as a resource without adequately compensating the workforce.

“They are using data as oil without paying for the oil fields. Someday, regulation will humble them,” he added.

This critique follows Kamra’s recent row with Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, which sparked widespread debate and even impacted the company’s stock performance.

Blinkit, now owned by Zomato Ltd., also saw its shares dip slightly, trading at ₹276.80 as of 2:20 PM on January 1, 2025, a 0.43% drop from the previous close at ₹278.

Kamra’s latest comments continue to fuel conversations about gig worker rights and the responsibilities of tech companies in India’s booming quick commerce industry.
