Apple’s Foldable iPhone Expected to Debut in September 2026 Featuring Advanced Technology
Rumors about Apple’s highly anticipated foldable iPhone have been circulating for some time. The tech giant from Cupertino is reportedly preparing to launch the device in 2026, following in the footsteps of competitors such as Samsung, Huawei, and Motorola. A reliable source has now provided new details about the foldable iPhone, confirming that it will feature advanced displays supplied by Samsung Display.
According to tipster Jukanlosreve (@Jukanlosreve), citing the Korean news outlet Kipost, Apple is set to begin production of its first foldable iPhone in May of next year. The device is expected to feature a book-style foldable design similar to the Galaxy Z Fold series, with a smaller external display for quick tasks and a larger internal screen that unfolds for a tablet-like experience. The foldable iPhone is anticipated to be unveiled in September 2026, likely alongside the iPhone 18 lineup.
Apple is reportedly aiming for an annual production target of 15 to 20 million units for its foldable handset. As with its recent iPhone models, Samsung Display is expected to supply the foldable OLED panels for the device. The foldable iPhone is said to incorporate cutting-edge technology, surpassing all existing foldable smartphones.
Although Apple has yet to officially announce plans for a foldable phone, recent reports suggest the company is planning to release two foldable devices in the coming years. One may feature a larger 19-inch screen, while the other could be a smaller foldable model, potentially replacing the iPhone 16 Pro Max with a larger screen.
Once launched, the rumored iPhone Fold will face stiff competition from the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, Vivo X Fold series, OnePlus Open, Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold, and Huawei’s Mate series. Additionally, Chinese smartphone makers like Oppo and Xiaomi have also introduced their own foldable models in recent years.
