Jasprit Bumrah is dealing with back spasms, and the medical team is closely monitoring his condition
India’s stand-in captain, Jasprit Bumrah, experienced back spasms, which led to his departure from the field for scans, as explained by Prasidh Krishna during the post-day press conference. “He (Jasprit Bumrah) had back spasms. The medical team is keeping a close watch on him, and he underwent a scan. We’ll receive further updates from them,” Krishna stated.
At the end of Day 2, India holds a 145-run lead and will rely on their pace spearhead to secure a victory and level the series.
Jasprit Bumrah was off the field for three of the last five overs in the morning session. He returned for the final two overs and resumed bowling for India after lunch. However, Bumrah left the field right after bowling his over at 1:20 pm (local time). About an hour later, he was seen leaving the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in training gear and heading to the hospital for scans.
Visuals showed Jasprit Bumrah was accompanied by the team doctor and the security liaison officer as he left the field. Bumrah has taken two wickets in this Test so far. There has been ongoing concern regarding his workload during this tour, as he has bowled 152.1 overs across nine innings, taking 32 wickets at an impressive average of 13.06. He surpassed Bishan Bedi’s record for the most wickets by an Indian bowler on a tour of Australia and has also been climbing the all-time wickets list.
Jasprit Bumrah stepped up to lead the team after Rohit Sharma chose to step down from the final Test match due to his poor form. During the middle session of day two, it seemed as though Virat Kohli had temporarily taken over the captaincy.
