Swiggy has launched a new initiative, ‘Swiggy Serves’, in partnership with the volunteer-driven organization Robin Hood Army (RHA) to combat food wastage and hunger across India. The program aims to redistribute surplus food from Swiggy’s restaurant partners to underserved communities.

In its pilot phase, the partnership has successfully redistributed over 2,000 meals across 33 cities, with more than 126 restaurant partners joining the effort. Swiggy stated that the initiative aligns with its mission to turn surplus food into a resource for fighting hunger while minimizing food waste.

The Robin Hood Army, a zero-funds, volunteer-based organization, has been serving communities for over 10 years. Volunteers, known as Robins, collect excess food from restaurants, events, and weddings, and distribute it to those in need. To date, RHA has served over 153 million meals across 406 cities worldwide.

Prominent brands like Bikkgane Biryani, Biryani by the Kilo, and Charcoal Eats – Biryani & Beyond are among those participating in the ‘Swiggy Serves’ initiative.

Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, emphasized the company’s commitment to using its logistics expertise to address food wastage and hunger. “We are excited to partner with RHA to ensure that no meal goes to waste and make a meaningful impact on society,” Kapoor said. The initiative is currently active in 33 cities, with plans to expand further.
