Logitech Pop Icon Keyboard and Mouse Combo Review: A Stylish and Functional AI-Powered Experience

0

Artificial intelligence is increasingly integrated into our daily devices, from smartphones to laptops, and now even keyboards and mice. Logitech’s new Pop Icon Keyboard and Mouse combo seeks to bring AI even closer by making ChatGPT just a click away.

Priced at ₹9,295 (₹6,695 for the keyboard and ₹3,595 for the mouse), is this combo worth the premium? After using it for over two months, here’s my take on how it performs in real-world use.

Design and Performance

The Logitech Pop Icon combo comes in four stylish color options: purple & off-white, graphite & green, rose & off-white, and off-white & orange. I received the pink variant, which stands out with its white and pink keys. The keyboard is eye-catching, but for those who prefer a more minimalist aesthetic, the green or off-white options would be ideal. The combo is ergonomically designed, with the keyboard weighing around 530 grams and the mouse 80 grams, making it easy to carry in a work bag.

Unlike its predecessor, the keyboard ditches the mechanical design in favor of a more conventional membrane switch layout, which provides a quieter and comfortable typing experience. The keys are similar to those on a standard keyboard, with some thoughtful additions like brightness control and mute buttons.

The back of the keyboard features a bump for added stability during fast typing and houses the two AAA batteries and a compartment for the Logitech USB dongle, which must be purchased separately. A significant downside is the lack of backlighting on the keyboard, a feature that even some cheaper models offer. This omission may be disappointing for those who prefer working late at night.

The mouse is also minimalist, with a two-tone pink finish that complements the vibrant keyboard. While it performs flawlessly, its compact size may feel uncomfortable for people with larger hands. One of my favorite features is the distinct whizzing sound the mouse makes when you quickly scroll, a small but enjoyable detail that enhances the user experience. The keyboard is said to last three years on its batteries, and the mouse up to two years. So far, my mouse still has 95% battery life, while the keyboard is fully charged despite rarely being turned off.

Compatibility and AI Integration

The Pop Icon combo works seamlessly with major operating systems, including Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux. The ability to switch between up to three devices with the F1/F2/F3 keys and a dedicated button on the mouse adds to the convenience.

The standout feature is the Logi Options+ app, which is available for both Windows and Mac. This app enables users to check battery levels and customize 15 keys on the keyboard and 2 on the mouse. One of the most exciting additions is the ability to customize AI prompts for ChatGPT through the app, allowing users to rephrase, summarize, or compose emails with specific tones and lengths.

Currently, the app supports ChatGPT, but it’s possible that other chatbots like Gemini and Claude could be added in the future. Although the prompt builder feature is a promising start, I found that the personalized prompts I created directly on ChatGPT yielded better results than the pre-set suggestions from Logitech.

Verdict

The Logitech Pop Icon Keyboard and Mouse Combo is a great choice for anyone who wants their tech accessories to stand out. Despite the lack of backlighting and the extra cost for the USB dongle, the combo compensates with a quiet typing experience, seamless connectivity, long battery life, strong software support, and emerging AI capabilities. While the AI features are still in their infancy, they add an interesting layer to the overall experience. For those who value aesthetics and functionality, this combo is definitely worth considering.
