India vs England: Shivam Dube to Join Indian Squad in Rajkot as Nitish Reddy’s Replacement for T20I Series
Allrounder Shivam Dube, a key member of India’s 2023 T20 World Cup-winning campaign, has been added to the T20I squad for the ongoing five-match series against England. The BCCI’s senior selection committee named Dube as a replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy, who has been ruled out due to injury.
Dube is set to join the Indian team in Rajkot. According to The Indian Express, Reddy sustained a side strain injury during a practice session in Chennai on January 24, preventing him from recovering in time for the series. As a result, he will now undergo treatment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Additionally, Rinku Singh suffered a low back spasm while fielding in the first T20I and has been ruled out of the second and third matches. Ramandeep Singh has been added to the squad as his replacement.
Dube’s Recent Form and Selection Call-Up
Dube was not initially included in the T20I squad, as the selectors opted for Nitish Reddy and Hardik Pandya as the two all-rounders. However, with Reddy’s injury ruling him out, Dube has now been brought in.
The Mumbai all-rounder recently played in the Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir but had a disappointing outing, scoring ducks in both innings as Mumbai suffered a shocking defeat at the Bandra Kurla Complex.
Despite missing the early stages of the Ranji Trophy due to a back injury, Dube recovered in time for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he played a role in Mumbai’s title-winning campaign.
India vs England T20I Series Schedule

The series will then move to Rajkot for the third T20I on Tuesday, followed by Pune for the fourth match on Friday. The fifth and final T20I is set to take place in Mumbai on Sunday, February 2.
