Amazon Prime Video’s New Policy: Password Sharing Ends, Screen Limits Reduced Starting THIS Date | Key Details
Amazon has introduced new password-sharing rules for its Prime members in India, set to take effect in January 2025. Under the updated policy, Prime members can log in on a maximum of five devices, including up to two TVs. According to the company’s official statement: “As part of your Prime membership, you and your household can enjoy Prime Video on up to five devices. Starting January 2025, we are updating our usage terms in India to include a limit of two TVs within the five-device entitlement. You can manage your devices through your Settings page or purchase an additional Prime membership to access Prime Video on more devices.”
Amazon’s Updated Prime Video Policy
Currently, Amazon Prime subscribers can log into up to 10 devices simultaneously, including phones, laptops, tablets, and TVs. However, under the new rules, this limit will be reduced to five devices.
Amazon’s New Prime Video Policy: What Subscribers Need to Know
Under the new policy, current Amazon Prime members will have a 30-day window to “remove and replace up to 2 existing devices.” This means subscribers with multiple devices registered on their accounts can deregister or delete up to two devices and replace them within this period.
For subscribers paying ₹1,499 annually for Amazon Prime, which includes Prime Video, free deliveries, Amazon Music, and more, this update could feel like a significant change. The move is part of Amazon’s efforts to limit password sharing, following a similar approach by Netflix.
