Apple’s Next Watch SE to Launch This Year With a New Design: Mark Gurman
Apple’s budget-friendly Watch SE hasn’t received yearly upgrades since its debut in 2020, with the most recent update arriving in 2022. Now, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a third-generation Apple Watch SE is on the horizon. Additionally, Apple is expected to introduce the Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3 later this year, succeeding the Watch Series 10 and Watch Ultra 2 models launched in 2024 and 2023, respectively. The upcoming Watch SE may feature a significant change—shifting from an aluminium case to a plastic build.
Third-Generation Watch SE Likely in 2025
In his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman stated that Apple plans to launch the new Watch SE later this year. The affordable smartwatch is expected to receive a design overhaul. “A fresh version of the lower-end SE model will sport a new look,” the report noted.
While the Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3 are not expected to see major design changes, these flagship models could introduce new features. Gurman predicts that the next-generation Watch Ultra will include satellite connectivity and 5G RedCap network support. Both the Series 11 and Ultra 3 are also expected to offer high blood pressure monitoring.
Expanded Health Features and AI Innovations
In addition to the hardware updates, Gurman mentioned that Apple is working on a revamped Health app, an AI-driven coaching service, and new capabilities for AirPods.
The new Apple Watch lineup is expected to debut alongside the iPhone 17 series in September. While detailed specifications for the next Watch SE remain unclear, early rumors suggest new color options and a possible switch to a plastic case.
