Following outstanding performances in T20Is this year, India’s left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh was nominated for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year award on Sunday, joining Travis Head, Sikandar Raza, and Babar Azam. Arshdeep played a pivotal role as India’s leading bowler in T20Is throughout the year, contributing significantly to the team’s T20 World Cup final victory.

In 18 matches this year, Arshdeep took 36 wickets, with an impressive bowling average of 13.5. His wicket tally places him second on the list for most wickets in a year, just one behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

As a much-needed left-arm pacer, Arshdeep delivered consistently strong performances. After the T20 World Cup final, he claimed 18 wickets, impressing against Sri Lanka and South Africa away, and Bangladesh at home.

During India’s tour of South Africa, Arshdeep surpassed Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar to become the country’s leading fast-bowling wicket-taker in T20Is.

At the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in June, Arshdeep was a crucial part of India’s bowling attack, playing a key role in the team’s final win. He bowled the penultimate over, conceding just four runs and leaving South Africa with 16 to win. He also took the early wicket of Aiden Markram and dismissed a well-set Quinton de Kock.
