Blinkit Launches 10-Minute Ambulance Service in Gurugram, Plans Nationwide Expansion
Blinkit, known for its rapid grocery deliveries, has introduced a 10-minute ambulance booking service in Gurugram, with plans to extend it to other cities.
CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced the initiative on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “We’re taking our first step in solving the challenge of providing quick and reliable ambulance services in urban areas.”
The company has deployed five ambulances in Gurugram as part of the initial rollout. Users of the Blinkit app will now have the option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance directly through the platform.
“Our ambulances are equipped with life-saving equipment such as oxygen cylinders, AEDs, monitors, stretchers, suction machines, and essential emergency medications,” Dhindsa said. Each vehicle will be staffed by a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver.
Dhindsa emphasized that the goal is to address a critical need rather than prioritize profits. “This service will be affordable, as our focus is on solving this long-term issue rather than generating profit,” he noted.
Paytm founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma praised the move, calling it a “well-thought-out use case” and expressing hope for its success.
Blinkit plans to expand the service to major cities within the next two years. However, some users voiced concerns about potential “surge pricing” during high demand.
The initiative has largely been welcomed on social media as a promising solution to enhance emergency medical access.
