Elon Musk Labels UK PM Keir Starmer a ‘National Embarrassment’, Calls for His Resignation

Billionaire Elon Musk has demanded the resignation of UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, calling him a “national embarrassment” in a post on the social media platform X.

Musk’s remarks come after his continued criticism of Starmer’s handling of grooming gangs during his tenure as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from 2008 to 2013. In several posts, Musk accused Starmer of failing to bring justice to Pakistani-Muslim grooming gangs that exploited young girls.

Musk’s comments have sparked strong reactions, with Health Secretary Wes Streeting dismissing Musk’s critique as “misjudged and certainly misinformed.” Musk also accused Starmer’s government of complicity and called for new elections despite the Labour Party’s landslide victory in July 2024. Some critics, including pollster Luke Tryl, have argued that Musk, increasingly involved in UK politics, lacks a true understanding of the country’s political landscape.

Beyond the grooming cases, Musk criticized Jess Phillips, the Minister for the Prevention of Violence Against Women and Girls, claiming she “deserves to be in prison” for opposing a national inquiry into the Oldham scandal.

Musk has also continued his support for far-right figure Tommy Robinson, who is currently in prison for contempt of court. Musk described Robinson’s imprisonment as punishment “for telling the truth” and called for his release, posting “Free Robinson” on X.

Musk’s political engagement in the UK has expanded further, as he criticized Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, urging him to step down. Musk stated, “Farage doesn’t have what it takes” and suggested the party needs new leadership. He appeared to endorse Rupert Lowe as a potential replacement, stating, “I haven’t met Rupert Lowe, but his statements online make a lot of sense.”

Musk’s growing influence in UK politics has sparked controversy, with some critics accusing him of supporting far-right movements across Europe.
