India’s double Olympic medalist and World Champion javelin thrower, Neeraj Chopra, has tied the knot with tennis player Himani Mor in an intimate ceremony. Days after stating that a public declaration wasn’t necessary before marriage, Neeraj took to social media to share the news, posting pictures from the ceremony held on January 16 in Himachal Pradesh.

“Grateful for every blessing that brought us to this moment together. Bound by love, happily ever after,” Neeraj wrote in his post.

A Private Celebration With Family

Neeraj’s paternal uncle, Bhim Chopra, confirmed to The Indian Express that the wedding was a family-arranged affair. “The wedding took place on January 16 in Himachal Pradesh, with both families in attendance,” he said, adding that Neeraj and Himani wished to keep the details private.

Even some of Neeraj’s fellow athletes learned about the marriage through his social media announcement, reflecting his desire for privacy. This aligns with his recent remarks in an interview with Lallantop News, where he emphasized the importance of personal space. “Personal life depends on how much an individual wants to share with the world,” he had said. “Marriage doesn’t necessarily have to be announced to everyone. When the family decides, it will happen.”

Who is Himani Mor?

Himani Mor hails from Sonipat, Haryana, and shares an alma mater with India’s top-ranked tennis player Sumit Nagal. She was an active tennis player, with career-high national rankings of 42 in singles and 27 in doubles, as per the All India Tennis Association records.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Physical Education, Himani moved to the USA, where she pursued further studies at Southeastern Louisiana University.
