Swiggy to Launch Standalone App for Instamart Quick Commerce Service

Swiggy, the Indian food delivery giant, has announced plans to launch a standalone app for its rapid commerce division, Instamart. The announcement came via a regulatory filing on Thursday.

This move marks a significant step in Swiggy’s expansion into the quick commerce space. CEO and Managing Director Sriharsha Majety expressed confidence in Instamart’s potential to surpass Swiggy’s core food delivery business. “It has been clear for a while that Instamart is on track to rival food delivery in scale. Recent progress suggests it could surpass food delivery in both penetration and overall size,” Majety stated. He also highlighted the platform’s growing success in new markets and categories, predicting that Instamart could achieve over 100 million users.

According to The Economic Times, despite the launch of a standalone app, Instamart will remain accessible through the main Swiggy app. Majety explained, “Keeping Instamart within the Swiggy app allows us to leverage cross-service benefits, while the dedicated app serves as an additional channel to reach consumers and deliver a top-notch experience in quick commerce.”

Instamart, which specializes in delivering groceries and daily essentials within minutes, has seen significant growth amid rising consumer demand for faster deliveries. The launch of a separate app reinforces Swiggy’s ambition to lead the burgeoning quick commerce market while solidifying its position in India’s e-commerce landscape.
