Jasprit Bumrah Retains Top Spot in ICC Test Bowler Rankings
Jasprit Bumrah has retained his position as the No.1 Test bowler in the latest ICC Rankings following his outstanding performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. Before the 5th and final Test in Sydney, Bumrah made history by achieving the highest-ever ICC Ranking rating for an Indian bowler at 907 points. After taking 2 wickets in the first innings of the Sydney Test, he improved his rating by one more point. However, his chances of further increasing the tally were cut short due to a back spasm, preventing him from bowling in the second innings. India lost the BGT to Australia after 10 years due to Bumrah’s absence.
Ravindra Jadeja climbed one spot to joint-ninth, becoming the only other Indian in the Top 10 alongside Bumrah. He shares the ninth spot with Australian pacer Scott Boland, who made a remarkable 29-place jump into the top 10 after taking a 10-wicket haul (4/31 and 6/45) in the Sydney Test, playing a pivotal role in dismissing Indian batters.
Australia’s Pat Cummins moved up to second in the rankings after taking five wickets in the final Test, while South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada rose to third. Injured Josh Hazlewood dropped two places to fourth.
Rishabh Pant’s explosive 33-ball 61 in the second innings earned him a three-spot rise to number nine in the batting rankings, while India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal retained his fourth spot.
South Africa captain Temba Bavuma’s crucial century in the first innings helped him climb three spots to sixth, achieving a career-best rating of 769. Additionally, Kyle Verreynne’s impressive century saw him rise four places to the 25th spot.
